around every turn
I've seen "at every turn" to mean "whenever or wherever you go", and is "around every turn" interchangeable with it?
j3-3p
ex)The Lord of the Rings.
The One Ring lost for centuries has been found. It is given to a Hobbit named Frodo. To save the world from the Dark Lord, Frodo and his friends must travel far away and destroy the ring. They face dangers around every turn, but they cannot give up.

"around every turn" doesn't sound natural to me in that sentence. Was it written by a native speaker?

It was written by JRR Tolkien, who I think we can safely say wrote pretty good English (and Elvish!)

That actual sentence was written by JRR Tolkien, was it?

Re: around every turn
It sounds more like somebody's summary of Tolkien to me.

Me too.

Re: around every turn
It's a while since I've seen it but I thought those lines were from the spoken introduction somewhere near the beginning of The Two Towers, part 2 of the LOTR film trilogy, and I was under the impression that much of the narration was taken directly from the books.
I think I should give up tonight - that's the second time I've been utterly and completely wrong!

Re: around every turn
It's from a Korean middle-school English textbook, so it may have been written by a Korean, and I think "at every turn" is proper instead.
