    Default in so doing

In so doing, the invader also puts at risk the fish animal and insect species that have come to depend on the native wetland vegetation for food and cover.

what does the "in so doing" mean?
and what does the "come to" mean here?
    thanks

In so doing = by doing this (something in the previous sentence)
come to depend = become dependent
