Please, would you tell me if I have used properly the articles in the following sentences:
1. He was taught in school that he was living in a classless society, but reality was something different.
2. She felt constricted by a hypocritical society, which gagged her imagination.
3. The book is about the alienation of human beings in contemporary British society.

1) "...classless society, but the reality was starkly different.
That arrangement better conveys what you're trying to say there.
