Hi, this is again from a book on Stevie Wonder...I’m sorry to often bother you with many questions, but I need to understand this, and I would appreciate it if you could help me.
He needs a woman, not as a crutch or a substitute for his mother, but as a woman. She should be intelligent, warm, black-oriented, and cookin' at both ends.
Q1: What is “black-oriented”?
Q2: What is “cookin' at both ends”?
It's likely that ‘Superwoman’ from MOMM tracks the differing attitudes in the relationship, and the regret at parting, but it doesn't run as deep as the emotions laid out in ‘You And I’.
The hand is certainly on the heart here (and the heart on the sleeve), and even though it might look clumsy on paper, the lyric sings very well.
Q3: What is “The hand is certainly on the heart here”?

Q1: What is “black-oriented”?
She should be 'into' black culture & like black men (ie. Stevie!)
Q2: What is “cookin' at both ends”?
Guessing here - but she should be blessed in both 'areas', cookin', smokin', red hot, highly sexually attractive (to Stevie) breasts & backside! - (both sides)
Q3: What is “The hand is certainly on the heart here”?
Swearing an oath - hand placed over heart - you are guaranteed the truth & with all honesty.
Just incase: Heart on sleeve - wearing your heart on your sleeve is showing your emotions openly.
Thank you hobbes!![]()
It is very difficult for me to understand these things without a native speaker's help (especially those like Q2)...so I really appreciate your help!
