"The Smiths" vs "The Smith's"???

Hi All,

I know I should know the answer to this but my daughter is addressing Christmas cards at the moment and she has just asked me if they should be addressed to "The Smiths" or "The Smith's". She thinks the former is correct and so do others but somehow it doesn't look right to me!

Your daughter's right- there's no need for an apostrophe as it's a straight plural. ;-)
