A period of 8 years seems enough (or more than enough!) for an adult to learn a foreign language. Select a reputable institute and finish the course with the same institute.

If you want to master a language, you have to read and practise speaking the language daily.

Hello! How (In what way) have you been learning English? How do you test youself? Sometimes I feel the same especially watching TV (very disappointing I have to say) but since I changed the grammar book (I used to use the book which was written in Russian but now I'm using the English book) I see the difference in understanding both listening and reading (speaking skill requires practising). As others recommend you should read and listen...and learn the grammar (this is helping me). Last edited by greegorush; 20-May-2009 at 19:06.

Lot of listening will help your spoken English. But you must listen to understandable and simple English. Don't listen to difficult English, like some movies, which are very difficult to understand.
