    What is the meaning of "academic" in the following sentence :

    The college offers both academic and professional qualifications .

    Academic qualifications (including many degrees at Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate level) do not in themselves qualify one for a particular job. They simply show that one has reached a particular level in a field of study.
