I was at my friend's home yesterday and her daughter was making noisy so my friend said to her daughter "settle it"

i don'i know what does it mean, but I think it means calm down or something like that .


so what does it mean exactly ?

"Settle it" is not a phrase I have heard. The usual phrase when you want someone to stop making a noise or to stop running around is "Settle down!"

In addition to emsr2d2's corrections, you might hear "settle down" or simply "settle" in AmE. "Settle it" would be less common but given the circumstances as described, understandable.
