order in a passive voice sentence
I have some problems with order of adverbials in passive voice sentences. I wonder if it was possible for me to put it like this:
A cake was made by Mary for her mother this morning
A report was written by John to the principal
Please help me! Thank you so much!
Re: order in a passive voice sentence
However you order the words in those two sentences, they sound clunky. I do not share the dislike of some for passive constructions, but I feel that the active form would be far more natural in those two sentence:
Mary made a cake for her mother this morning.
John wrote a report to/for the principal.
