Which is more natural?
Thanks.
With the addition of "I" in the first one it's fine. The first is more natural but there is nothing wrong with the second. Of course you can also say "I wrote this book when/while I was in the USA" or "I wrote this book when/while in the USA".
Remember - correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing make posts much easier to read.
