According to LDCE:
1. BrE to put someone in prison
2. AmE to seriously damage something
I wonder what are the AmE equivalent
for 1 and BrE equivalent for 2.

For #2 in BrE, you might say "to knock something about", "to bash something about".

Though they wouldn't necessarily imply "serious" damage.
