Unhappy high-stakes risk calculation?

what does it mean by high-stakes risk calculation? especailly, what does it mean by calculations? I looked up the dictionry and found two meaning:
1. N-VAR : oft N of n
A calculation is something that you think about and work out mathematically. Calculation is the process of working something out mathematically.

2. N-VAR
A calculation is something that you think carefully about and arrive at a conclusion on after having considered all the relevant factors.

which one is more proper ? or do you have any other suggestiosn?

which one is more proper ? or do you have any other suggestiosn?
My first impression is that this is a mental evaluation or assessment of the risks (def. #2).
But depending on the context it's put into, it's possible that actuarial type mathematics could be involved (def. #1)

Fizi,
I'm inclined to agree with you. Without any further information about it, I would guess that the more generalized definition given in #2 would be the right one. However, I was hoping for an example sentence so that we could all be sure (just in case).
