good graces

I looked up online dictionary for "get into someone's good graces" and found the definition was "be in favour with someone", which isn't much of a help because I don't understand it. Does it mean "to be liked by someone"?

If you do things that please the other person, who ends up with a good opinion of you, then you've got into their good graces.
