Default "I knew it" or "I know it"

A: "I didn't do it."
B: "You don't have to tell me. I know/knew it."
Could you tell me which is correct?

Given that they know now, the present makes sense, but the past could beused to show that the person knew at the time they found out that something had been don. ;-

Thank you, and could you answer one more question?

When B says “I know it”, can it mean not only that B now knows it but also B had known it even before A told?
