article usage
Hi,
1) Last night, I wanted to go to church which is at the end of the street to pray for God.
or
2) Last night, I wanted to go to the church which is at the end of the street to pray for God.
Although it is used for its primary purpose, I think that the second example is the best choice because I interrupt the relative clause ' which is at the end'. Is that right?
Thanks.

Re: article usage
NOT A TEACHER
'Last night, I wanted to go to church' works because it just means that he or she wanted to go to church but we don't know which one or where it's located. I agree with you that if you mention the churches' whereabouts, you should use "the".

One prays to God, not for him.

OK, 'to' but it is not what I wanted to learn.

Is number 1 or 2 OK for you?
Thanks.

OK, 'to' but it is not what I wanted to learn. I would welcome constructive criticism, or as I call it - a piece of friendly advice, in a more friendly way.
Is number 1 or 2 OK for you? I think Chicken Sandwich has already answered your query:
I agree with you that if you mention the churches' whereabouts, you should use "the".
(BTW: I agree with CS)

I know that, but CS has already answered your question correctly. If he hadn't I would have commented.
In fact, I would say, "I wanted to go to the church at the end of the street." The 'which is' is not necessary.
