Question "Any" followed by plural nouns

I always thought that "any" was followed by a singular "Without any known countermeasure" but a native English speaker disagrees with me. Would "without any known countermeasures" be grammatically correct as well?

Hello carol,
Both sentences sound fine to me. We can wait on some of our other expert grammarians for their opinions.

'Any' can be followed by a singular or a plural.

I guess I was thrown by the fact the sentence started with the negative "without"!

Thanks for the input.
