When you can switch a word around and it spells the same thing, e.g. racecar is racecar spelled backwards or mom and dad are the same, etc.? Can someone give us the word for what this is called?

It's called a a palindrome. My favourite is:

Cool one, Jeremy! My favourite palindrome has to be the Finnish one: saippuakivikauppias (which means soap stone vendor)! That even made it into the Guinness Book of World Records once.
I figure the question has been answered now so I can pose an additional one: What do you call it when you tack the initials together of a series of words to form a title you can pronounce? eg. WHO = World Health Organisation, etc.

That's an acronym, Bill.

K.N., A a palindrome is a word - or phrase - that reads the same forwards or backwards. mom, dad and rotor are simple examples.
