Why I'm asking is because we got a list of items entitled "Material List" from the U.S. side. In fact these items are components of a certain system rather than materials. After googling I found out that "Material Lists" are sometimes stand for lists of items for school children (like, say, pencils, markers, notebooks etc.).
Please, explain to me how wide is the meaning of the term "Material List".
Can it also stand for a list of equipment or other things?
Thank you
Yes. It is normally used for equipment for, for example, builders. The materials needed are: bricks, mortar, cement, water, trowel etc. However, I have seen it used for lists of anything that needs to be bought/brought.
As another example, if you sign up to an education course, you might see "You will be provided with the following materials: course books, textbooks, notebooks, CDs, a dictionary, pens, pencils".
