I was lowering myself to your level.
However, it's a pretty insulting thing to say to a friend.
You are talking with your friend and she is saying something childish and girlish. You tell her that she is being really childish and that you can't stand it. She argues that you seemed really interested in those stories.
Can I tell her "I was sticking to your level? or I was fitting in your level"?
What is the proper expression in this situation.
I was lowering myself to your level.

I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
