    Default do not feel?

"It is important that you do not feel as if you are being controlled by a practitioner and that you like him or her."

I'm confused about the later half of this sentence. Is it saying "it is important that you like your practitioner" or "it is important that you do not feel as if you like your practitioner"?

It is important a) that you don't feel controlled and b) that you like him or her.
