Re: which sentence is correct Can you please tell me which sentence is CORRECT
1. Please return the book to us when you've read it.
2. Who did you sell your old car to?
3. John is a better baseball player than me.
3. Well, it's certainly not 3. John sucks at basketball and I can whip him with one hand tied behind my back. Anyway, it's elliptical, and would unpack as "than me am" without the ellipsis, so it can't be right for this reason as well.
Sentence 2. --God forbid -- ends with a preposition, a mistake which I am sure you will not fall into.
Oh yea, and it takes the objective not the nominative case as well, so "who" should be "whom".... Seriously:
To whom did you sell your old bucket of bolts?
John's a better opera singer than I. |
