Default worthy of Job?

"He would launch into a foaming-at-the-mouth diatribe about how my financial shortcomings were the cause of his elevated blood pressure and a host of other onuses that daily racked him on the property owner's cross. His jeremiads were worthy of Job and their intent was to make me feel guilty and scrape together the $850 in question."

What is the property owner's cross?
What does it mean by worthy of Job?

Job is a character in the Bible who endured great suffering with patience and didn't question God.

Thanks for tdol's reply. But I still don't understand when people say something is worthy of Job, what do they mean by saying so? ... that something requires great patience?

It onvolves enduring great suffering:
Since then, the family has been through an experience worthy of Job: two strokes, breast cancer, two heart attacks, Mr. Shaffer's brain-damaging fall, ...

I assume it means that the person had to endure the long diatribes in silence and with patience.
