What are the differences between the usages of how are you and how have you been ?
Context is important. Please provide enough for us to be able to deal effectively with your question.
Your thread title should include all or part of the word/phrase being discussed.
If you just want to know the meaning of a word, try OneLook Dictionary Search first.
You can use both to people you know. "How are you?" refers to the present ie "How are you right now?", and "How have you been?" refers to the time that has elapsed since you last saw the person.
Remember - correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing make posts much easier to read.
