    Default I will come

John (speaking on the phone), "Sir, we need your assistance at the scene. Could you proceed to where we are now?"

Richard, "I will come (there) now".

Is it idiomatic for Richard to have said, "I will come..."?

What Richard says sounds fine to me, but John's question sounds a bit stilted or dated, unless he's supposed to be a traditional police officer. Where's it from?
