Default please help with the meaning of this sentence

Live Aid was one of the first indications that we now lived in a globalised world.
Could you please paraphrase the sentence above? What's the meaning? And why is it the past form "lived"?

    NOT A TEACHER

Live Aid (concert with a huge number of specatators) was one of the first signs that we live in a world where there is a lot of people of differenct nations, cultures.

I think it should be Present Simple. It's a mistake.

No, there is a deeper meaning here. We have lived in a world of different nations and cultures for thousands of years. This is not new. What is new is that we now have to interact with each other on a more or less continuous basis. For example, I have a car that has parts from Japan, China, Canada, and the US. Most of this car was assembled in Mexico with the final parts being put on in the US. For another aspect of globalization, consider the fact that I interact with people from across the world every day on this forum. As far as the tense is concerned, it is correct.

Live Aid was when rock starts first figured out that they could use their fame to do good in the world and earn adulation at the same time.

Many organizations and churches had done charity work in poor and starving countries before 1985. But this was the first time the "rock and roll" culture embraced their ability to influence people to help others.
