What does this "sent out" mean? You wouldn't dispatch your laundry to a laundry shop. Does it just mean "leave something at"?

W：Jennifer gets a phone call from her friend Peggy. Peggy says she is going to have a party at 9 p.m.

Can't that someone be herself? Does "send out something for laundry" always mean "you have somone take it to a laundry" or can it be "you take it to a laundry yourself"?

If you sent it, someone else took it. If you delivered it to the laundry - you took it to the laundry.
