Thank you, Japanese Teacher.

Something still confused me. Pls look at them.

1, ==>During that time, female numbers were almost 9 times more X than male numbers.
( what's X? I can't just say " 9 times more than ")

2, people over 40 years old have an even percentage (50%) studying for interest and for career.

3, The percentage is not as high for employees aged over 30 (41%) and 49 (35%).

what's the function of this " as" ? Is here some expression? like, "not as much...... as"

Thanks again.

1. During that time, female numbers were almost 9 times greater/higher than male numbers.

2. People over 40 studying for interest and for career show an even percentage at 50%.

3. The percentage for employees aged over 30 is 41%, and 35% for employees aged over 49.

"not as much...as" functions as a comparative.
Meaning, to the extent of which this is the same/not the same as that.

Pay close attention to Caseopia's advice, especially:
  • Compared to X, Y is better/worse.
    In comparison to X, Y is better/worse.
In contrast, Y is unlike X.
    By contrast, Y is better/worse.
    In contrast with X, Y is better/worse

(Casiopea is Canadian, but she lives and teaches in Japan.)

Quote:
8. In this time, females’ number had been almost 9 times more than males’.
Females outnumbered males almost nine to one during that time.

Quote:
2, people over 40 years old have an even percentage (50%) studying for interest and for career.
People over 40 study as often because of interest in the subject as they do for career purposes (about 50/50).

What do you think?

God, that's the difference between you two and me. 555 Even you just modified a little in my sentences, they could be changed very well.

You are gorgeous, but I'm pitiful.

This week I hope you can help me a lot.

Thanks a billion. It's so terrible before the deadline of exam.
