    Red face a real man?

I am not sure how to say this pression, such as

I like the male character of the movie " XXX" because he is the real man( which i am trying to say he is not a fictional man and he really existed /lived before now)

what do you say? does it sound ok if i say a real man?

Not really- a real man is a red-meat eating, no-nonsense kind of guy with nothing epheminate about him. How about 'historical figure' or 'real person'?
