Question In case of

Is there any rule (or maybe just a hint?) what article should be chosen in a title phrase before "of", i.e., when it should be "in case of", "in a case of", or "in the case of"? Actually, I feel that this phrase has its own rules of using, the classical rules of using articles do not apply here. Or maybe I am wrong as well as those who judge my writing? Maybe you could help me, please?

Best,
Nyggus

Hi nyggus,
Not too sure what you want to know.
Can you give some examples? That would enable someone to answer your question appropriately.

Ok. Which of the sentences is correct:
1st. "In case of the first algorithm, the beta parameter should be set on its maximum level."
2nd. "In a case of the first algorithm, the beta parameter should be set on its maximum level."
3rd. "In the case of the first algorithm, the beta parameter should be set on its maximum level."

Thanks,
Nyggus

The 3rd- it's a specific case. How about 'set to its maximum level'?
