Could you correct or confirm these questions for a listening exercise?

Hi teachers,
This is for a listening comprehension exercise.The text is from a CD.
Alex Dinon escaped from prison yesterday.


If this is what the students will hear:
What are you doing in my field, young man?’ she said. Alex sat up quickly. ‘I’m sorry,’ he said. ‘I was tired, and needed some sleep. I’m going now.’‘You’re very dirty,’ the old woman said. ‘Look at you! Where are you going?’‘North,’ Alex said. He stood up and began to move away.

Would the following be suitable questions and answers?
1. How did Alex rise from the field? He did it quickly.
2. Did Alex apologize to the old woman? Yes he did
3. What were Alex’s motives to be in her field? (They were that) he was tired and needed some sleep.
4. What did Alex look like? He was very dirty.
5. Which direction did Alex want to go? He wanted to go North.
6. Did Alex rise and began to leave the field? Yes, he did.

It looks like you are planning this exercise for detailed comprehension. I would first try to work out some more general questions or a multiple choice test for general comprehension. As to the questions, they are more or less fine to me, except the first one. Alex didn't rise from the field, he sat up which means he was still on the ground, not lying now as it was before the woman came up to him, but sitting.

The exercise is planned for intermediate students, so they don't really need to work out any general questions. They have been doing this kind of exercise in the beginners level with much more easy questions.

Sorry, but if I'm not mistaken, don't you also raise when you go from a lying position to a sitting position?

"To rise from the field" suggests that he was capable of levitation!

Perhaps you should ask them "How did he move from his original/lying position in the field?"

If you are pronouncing it "raise", then you are pronouncing it incorrectly. "Rise" should rhyme with "eyes".

How did he move from his lying position in the field? He did it quickly.
