    Default the world at the time

    My parents left me when I was small, so my baby and I have no one to care for us but him.
    When I try to talk to him about things he promises me the world at the time, then later he just ignores it. I just want to be loved again. What should I do to make him understand we need him?

    What does "the world at the time" mean in above sentence?
    Is this a mistake? I think it may be "the word at the time".
    Thank you.

    It's 'he promises me the world' - he makes all sorts of extravagant promises;
    'at the time' - at the time when you try to talk to him about things.

    Can I use "he promises me the moon/the Earth?
    I think they have the same meaning.
