Woah !
Do you use woah ! for surprise + delight or to say "calm down" ?
What would you say if you found a diamond, for example ?
Thanks

I'd use whoa to stop or slow down a person from talking or a thing from moving. I'd use wow if I found a diamond.
"whoa", pronounced [wo:w], like in "snow", is an interjection used to stop or slow a horse. It's a variation of Ho.
"wow", pronounced [wouw], as in "cow", is an interjection used to express astomishment or admiration.

There's "Whoa, Nellie" as in Nellie, slow down.
There's "Wow! That's really something" as in Wow! That's really something.
But what about: "Whoa, baby!"

Reminds me of a line from Charlie F's bible:
...and Adam named her woman because when he saw her for the first time all he could say was, "Whoa Man!"

Prelapsarian bliss didn't include commas, then.
