-Mom, you would be proud of me when I was a child.

-Mom, you used to be proud of me when I was a child. (I know it is OK)

I have been too confused. I don't know if I can use 'would' with the verb 'be' in this situation. Please can you tell me if sentence 1 is OK or not?

"You would have been..." - we have to "slip into" the past here.

It's more of a time problem.
You would have been proud then
You are proud now
You will be proud tomorrw

"Mom, you would have been proud of me when I was a child" suggests that mom wasn't proud of me. It should also be followed by some extra information.

"Mom, you would have been proud of me when I was a child if I had worked harder at school" perhaps.

I just wanted to know if we can use 'would' instead of 'used to' with 'be proud of'.

You can't use "would" for "habit" here, unless you link it to a specific action. Mom, remember how I would bring home great report cards and you would be so proud of me?
