    on and off: Intermittently
    "Also, the on/off nature of your relationship doesn’t bode well for lasting love.    "


    Is it possible and acceptable to say that "the on/off nature of your relationship" mean the nature of your unstable/shaky relationship?

    It's not a very natural way of describing this sort of relationship.

    "On again/off again" is used sometimes to describe couples who are constantly breaking up and getting back together.
