    Default question in question

    Hi,

    1. Can you tell me who is the better candidate?
    2. Can you tell me who the better candidate is?

    3. Do you know where do we turn for help?
    4. Do you know where we turn for help?

5 .Can you tell me why is she here?
    6. Can you tell me why she is here?

Senteces 1,3 and 5 are made for an emphasis, is that right?

    Thanks.

    (Not a Teacher)

4 and 5 don't sound quite right. I feel there ought to be a "should" after "we" in sentence 4. As for 5, I would get rid of "Can you tell me".

I'm not sure I'd say any of these sentences are emphatic on their own, but rather, they can all be read with emphasis.
