Are you talking about vocabulary, accent or something else? Why specifically do you want to excel at American English?

Please see my amendments above. Remember to start every sentence with a capital letter.

You don't need an American accent to converse with American people.

Believe it or not, speakers of different varieties of English can converse with each other perfectly well. I have no problem speaking to and understanding Americans, Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders etc.

You really don't need to worry too much about your accent etc. Get to grips with good grammatical English first.

You are lucky that you can find material from Hollywood and hear all kinds of American accents.

But emsr2d2 is correct. Worry more about grammar and general pronunciation.

There is no differences what kind of accent you have. Just spend time with the language and these three things can help you 100 precent! Reading, Listening, Grammar. =) Best wishes.

Justalilbit, please remember that you are welcome to add your suggestions but you seem to have stopped pointing out that you are not a teacher. Note the amendments to your post, marked above in red.

Trying too hard to put on a specific accent will actually hinder your speaking.
I always prioritize articulation over accent.
