    Default less

    Hello everyone

I wonder if I can use 'less' as an adjective; for example:
Tom has less food than Harry.

....But if the noun is countable, use 'fewer': 'Tom has fewer sausages than Harry.'

What about 'lesser', can I use it in that sentence? "Tom has lesser food than than Harry" or should I necessarily use "amount" , "Tom has lessr amount of food than Harry." ??

lesser is an adjective , so why can't we use it before a noun like 'food'?

'Lesser' means 'smaller', 'less important/significant'. It is the antonym of 'greater', not of 'more'.

So is 'blue'. Some words don't go with others. 'Lesser' and 'food' form this sort of non-collocation.
