Could someone please help me in explaining the difference between:
1. Develop interest in reading
2. Develop interest for reading
What is the difference between these two sentences.
If I have say:
1. I want the children to develop interest in reading.
2. I want the children to develop interest for reading.
Which one would be correct and why?
And if you actually bother to read my first reply, you will see clearly that you need the indefinite article.
As I said in my first reply, the phrase is "to develop an interest in something".
"An" is an indefinite article.
You can say:
I want to develop an interest in photography.
He was starting to develop an interest in art.
You can also personalise the interest:
I would like to follow up my interest in photography.
His interest in art was set off by a visit to The Louvre in Paris.
If your teacher put the phrases you quoted on the board in a classroom, then your teacher was wrong. I suggest you point that out to him/her.
Thank you
