cattle guard
Cattle guard, according to the context of a story I was reading, it must be
the yellow bumpy thing on the road. I never know its name before, and
this is the first time I come across such phrase.
Are there any other names for it? Thanks!

Re: cattle guard
cattle guard, noun, a bridge over a ditch consisting of parallel metal bars that allow pedestrians and vehicles to pass, but not cattle (cows). Also a trench under a railroad track and alongside a crossing (as of a public highway). It is intended to prevent cattle from getting upon the track.
Synonym: cattle grid

In BE, we use 'grid'- I haven't heard 'guard' used for that.

www.hyperdictionary.com That thing they used to have on the front of locomotives is called a cow catcher. Woe to the poor cows that got caught.
