Default history of words

Hello, I'm french, and I'd like to be an English teacher later... I wanted to know where I could find the history of english words...
I already know the history behind the expression of "teddy bear", and it intruigued me... I would love to know more... But I don't see anything on the web...
If you could help me, then it would be sooo great... Thank you.
Aude Lété.

The history, or origin, of words can also be referred to as etymology.

Here is a popular online etymology dictionary.

The term you are looking for, "teddy bear", is listed in this dictionary. Simply type in the word, and click on "ok".
