Dear teachers,
please look at the following paragraph.
The mornings are probably the worst-waking up with a habitual jar, for the first two weeks, thinking, " I'm late!" Latefor what? The dull ache in your lower stomach reminds you: late for nothing.
this paragraph is extracted from one article, the author complained that she was very busy.
I don't understand "late for nothing." she is nervous when she woke up, she felt she is late. why dose the dull ache reminds her "she is late for nothing"?
P.S. The author is from America, her name is Jan Halvorsen, the title of the article is "how it feels to be out of work." which is from The Art of Reading. 1990.
looking forward to your instruction.
thanks a lot.
You're used to working, so you wake up and think you're late, then realise that you're not late beause you aren't working, then you feel bad about being unemployed. You're late for nothing because you have nothing to do...
