Organizational Change

This is the first time to write here. I don't do either Twitter or Face book, so please tell me if there is something wrong in my use of this Web site.

My question is about organizational changes in companies. Please tell me if the following expressions are appropriate to use in official presentation materials about what changes are made in the organization.

The Production Engineering Department is dissolved to newly establish the Engineering Department.
The Production Promotion Group, which directly reports to the Engineering Department, is set up.


Is "establish" a big word for groups?

Is "directly report to" used only to a specific person, like CEO, but not to an organization?

Do you say hierarchy level when you refer to "department," "division," "group," etc...

I have just started working as a translator from Japanese to English. I am having hard time since I have no experience either to have studied or to have lived abroad. I am sure my English is strange. So I came here to learn natural English.

I don't work in a large organisation which uses those kinds of terms but I want to wish you good luck in your new job. It must be very challenging to have a job translating anything into English when, by your own admission, you think your English is strange! However, you must have done a good job with your translations when you applied for the job and did the test translations.

Just a quick warning about asking for help - we will be able to tell you what does and doesn't sound natural in English but we won't know if it's a good translation of the Japanese version.

In my experience you don't see "establish" used as a verb very often. You might want to clarify if the old engineering group was simply renamed or if it became part of some other larger group.

"Reports to" is usually used about a position rather than a department.
