    Question I had a three car escort with lights and sirens

    Hello,

    I have a question about the two sentences as follows;
    "My daughter broke her toe when she was eight. I had a three car escort with lights and sirens all the way to Saint Vincents."

    Does the speaker literally mean he took his daughter's injury very seriously, and asked three patrol-cars to come with him to a hospital so that other cars let him through?

    Or does "a three car escort" mean ambulance??

    Thank you,
    Tara

    Unless context indicates he is exaggerating, I would read this to mean that there were police cars.

    Thank you for your response.
    So I take it my interpretation is correct?

    Best regards,
    Tara

    Not necessarily. We know only that he had the police escort. We don't know that he asked for it. The ambulance service might have requested it, or the police might have misunderstood an ambulance call and provided the escort, thinking it was an emergency case.

    Hello,

    I see. Thank you very much for providing possible explanations, which help me a lot.

    Best,
