Hello,

I wanted the children to clean the table. (ACTIVE)
I wanted the table to be cleaned (by me). (PASSIVE)

Can we change this structure as the following? Does the sentece I have written below come to the same meaning as above?

-The children were wanted to clean the table (by me).

Thanks for the answer, but when I search for 'been asked to', I see lots of sentences in like http://www.usingenglish.com/forum/as...have-been.html or http://www.usingenglish.com/forum/as...-birdsong.html . Please help me about this structure.

I am writing some of them below.

4) I was told to contact you. (This means, "Someone told me to contact you.")
5) I have been told to contact you. (This sentence sounds very natural. Its meaning is similar to #4.)

If they are OK, why is the sentence I have asked wrong?

Who wanted/Who cleaned?

The example you give is of a difference of tense (past/present perfect) and not subject.
