Help with information for an exercise

Hi teachers,
Could you tell me a shorter form to explain the blue part?
The exercise is a multiple choice exercise, but I also want to inform the students about the verb in its present form.

19.	Baxter jumped out of the car even before Halls stopped it.
	Word class: verb. Tense: Simple Past (R). Simple Present: jump.

It doesn't relate at all to those choices. That part is only given to add additional information to the verb in that sentence. Nothing else.

It seems to me that you are cluttering up an exercise on meaning with redundant information. If you feel that they should be able to guess the meaning of 'jumped', then surely they can recognise that it's a verb. Given that it ends in -ed (and given the choices you have offered) they should be able to recognise both that it's a past tense form and that it's regular. They should also be able to work out the present tense form.

Had the verb been sprang, you could simply have noted: spring, sprang sprung.
