What does she mean by the next sentence?
Joe's deicing the cake!
It's a play on words. Normally, to de-ice something is to remove frozen water from it: such as from a road or an aeroplane's wings. In this case, Joe is eating the sweet covering from the cake - normally made with "icing sugar", and so generically called "icing" - so he is removing the icing from the cake, or "de-icing" the cake.
