    Default Star Wars defense

    Is this related to a possible war or conflict with aliens or something? It seems I have heard of it, but I don't remember clearly what it was.

    st37)In the 1960s, I helped a client get a very broad patent on a laser pumped by a chemical reaction explosion. We were very pleased with this patent. However, it was so advanced at the time that the technology behind it is just being implemented in connection with the Star Wars defense effort....

    I suspect it's referring to the USA's work on developing capabilities to shoot down missiles and satellites in space, using lasers.
