get out / get off

I was told we use GET INTO/OUT OF for cars, taxis and other individual means of transport and GET ON/OFF for trains, buses and mass transport.

But today other teacher told me I can say both "get out (car)" and "get of (a car)".

So which statement is true? Is there a rule?

Hello Lenka

You can "get off a car" if you're sitting on its roof or bonnet. But if you're sitting inside, you can only "get out of the car".
