Default pair , set, combination

There are three pieces of data, A, B, and C.
X is defined as a difference between A and B, between B and C, or between A and C.

If X is defined as a difference between A and B,
Y is defined as a difference between B and C, or between A and C.
If X is defined as a difference between B and C,
Y is defined as a difference between A and B, or between A and C.
If X is defined as a difference between A and C,
Y is defined as a difference between A and B, or between B and C.

I want to express the above relation.
This is my draft.
"X is defined as a difference between any pair of A, B, and C.
Y is defined as a difference between another pair of A, B, and C."

Is my draft correct? Is there possibility for misunderstanding?

I'd do it like this:
"X is defined as a difference between any single pair from A, B, and C.
Y is defined as a difference between the other pairs from A, B, and C."
