Is the following question formal and correct for asking the price or not? Can I use it instead of ( How much is it?) and ( How much does it cost ?) ?
What does it cost ?
If this question is correct , where can it be used ? Is it formal or informal? And where is it used? Isn't it archaic?

What does it cost?
This is fine- we do still use it, so I wouldn't consider it archaic. It can also be used for things that cost not just in monetary terms but also in effort, etc.
